This was a last minute trip, so most of the campgrounds near Snow Summit were full for the weekend. I've used VRBO on many occasions, but we didn't have much luck getting any replies to our reservation requests (completely our fault for the last minute decision, so plan ahead), so we decided to go to Big Bear Vacations for our cabin rental. They had plenty of rentals and were very professional and pleasant to deal with. We even received a discount because it was already Friday evening when we called to book a place for Fri and Sat nights. Procrastination sometimes helps!! It is definitely more pricey compared to VRBO, but the condo we rented was very clean and well maintained. Parking sucked though!!! Make sure you ask about parking in Big Bear! Every rental seemed to have a set number of parking spaces per rental home.
Our crew rode Snow Summit's bike park in the morning and then headed to the festival in the afternoon. Due to the downhill races, the MTB park had limited # of trails open to the public, so we didn't get to enjoy the full glory of Snow Summit. $25 entry fee to the venue included 20 beer tickets and a taster glass. Purchase of a lift ticket or entry in any of the bike races allowed access to the festival, but NO beer tickets. A few of us purchased 10 tickets for $15. Some notable breweries were Noble, Ritual, Rip Current, Alosta, and New Belgium breweries. The festival was supposed to have 30 different breweries, but there may have been 20 or less... I didn't count, but we had plenty of beers to drink. As a matter of fact, we had a stack of drink tickets left over from people who donated their tickets to us.
Overall, we met some new friends and had an awesome time. We plan to go again next year, but hopefully, we can get a booth and sell some stuff while we're at it!
